My Story

goals self actualization strive success business future
One of the biggest challenges I believe people face is the struggle for, as Abraham Maslow termed,  self-actualization.   I watch people in quiet desperation, struggling with self-esteem, fearing failure and change, lacking direction, and therefore missing opportunities to be happy at work and in their personal lives.

Building one's potential connects us to our highest purposes.   With the right training and development support, we are more willing and able to help our organizations meet and even exceed their goals.  The combination of training and consultation that I offer represents my contribution to making this a reality.

My background includes certifications in Adult Continuing Education Instruction, Certified Corporate Training, Human Resources Generalist, and Counseling Skills from San Antonio College.  I  graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio earning a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Human Resources Management.  In addition, I am a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) granted by the Human Resources Certification Institute.

My experience includes serving as the Human Resources Manager and Training Specialist for the largest and oldest child emergency shelter in San Antonio, The Children’s Shelter.  In addition to consulting, I developed and trained a number of workshops to address staff, leadership, employee relations, and foster/adoption family needs including Sexual Harassment Prevention, Cultural Diversity, the Management Achievement Program, and Building Self-Esteem in Children.  Prior to this, I gained several years of valuable experience in the human resources, education, social services, and health fields working for Emory University's Employee Services, The Carter Center's Interfaith Health Program, and Pediatric Genetics, and Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center. Working as a Child Assessor for Decision Information Resources provided additional insight into childhood development.

The Community Leadership Institute Program, which advocates the Servant-Leadership model, was a milestone in my career of service to others.  Here I connected with several wonderful professional 'servant leaders' dedicated to uplifting San Antonio through their works.  Our group project was to teach environmental awareness to school-aged children.
